Nuendo 3 has been frustrating me to no end. I’ve had a myriad of MIDI time code problems with it and my hardware devices just don’t want to play nice with it. I think I’m going to switch over to Cubase 5 and start from scratch.
It means I’ll be missing out on a lot of the post-production features that Nuendo offers but I rarely use them anyway. Being able to compose without having technical issues is far more important to me.
Yes, I am writing music again. Besides thinking about some ideas for a friend’s music project in 2008 and fucking around with some beats a few times I pretty much haven’t written anything new since February 2008…the last thing I worked on was a remix for a song off of NIN’s Year Zero that I never finished. I’ve been teaching myself Nuendo, which should translate over to Cubase but I haven’t been writing. I didn’t want to force myself to write just for the sake of doing it so I’ve waited until I’ve felt that creative urge again. It feels like now things are coming together and it’s the right time again. Dresden is a little older and doesn’t need as much constant tending to. Getting the studio built is also inspiring. I’m working on a project with a good friend of mine and also have some other things in the pipe. In all I’m feeling pretty motivated nowadays, just need to sort out the software issues.
