FEMA news

Posted on 06 September 2005 by D' MacKinnon

FEMA news.
FEMA is totally fucking up, their leadership is inept. Perhaps someone should stop appointing his buddies to posts (who then appoint their buddies).
The first one here is from their own site:

FEMA tells first responders not to respond first.

FEMA turns down Amtrak’s offer of help

FEMA turns away experienced firefighters.

FEMA turns away Wal-Mart supply trucks.

FEMA stops Coast Guard from delivering diesel fuel.

FEMA won’t let Red Cross deliver food.

FEMA won’t let morticians enter New Orleans.

FEMA blocks 500-boat citizen floatila from delivering aid.

FEMA doesn’t utilize 600-bed hospital ship provided by Navy.

FEMA turns down Chicago’s massive offer of aid.

FEMA stops delivery of generators.

Some more here.
How else can this be viewed other than a monumental failure?

Today President Bush bypassed the Senate’s block of John Bolton’s nomination to the post of UN Ambassador by using a rule that allows for “temporary appointments” while Congress is in recess.
Two years seems like long time for a temporary position. When I think of a “temp job” I usually think of those 2 week deals where you are some person’s copyboy until while Bob is out on vacation.
In any case, this reminds me of a movie I saw once.
“The US Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the President has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away.
But that’s impossible. How will the President maintain control without the bureaucracy?
The regional governors now have direct control over their territories. Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station.”

40 million?

Posted on 21 January 2005 by D' MacKinnon

40 million dollars.
That’s how much Bush’s inauguration party cost. The worse the reality of the world is, the more you have to spend on propaganda I guess.
Judy Bachrach slams Bush on Fox news
You have to love those live feeds. I’m sure the producers at Fox would have censored that if they knew it was going to happen. What ever happened to the days of “unbiased reporting” and credibility?
Forbid someone isn’t blindly accepting the Bush administration’s rhetoric as gospel.
How can the White House preach about the virtues of freedom and democracy when the people leading our country are only interested in lining their own pockets?
