Found this today, a DIY steampunk inspired modular synth, complete with brass faceplates etched by hand.
It sure is pretty, I wonder how hard it will be to keep polished. More info at the builder’s blog and an interview on steampunkworkshop.com.

A modular synth with the brains of a Mac Mini?
As technology gets cheaper, we are starting to see uber-powerful gizmos like this.
Funny, this “synth” could have more processing power than the computer I currently use to record with.
